Singapore fieldwork

Singapore fieldwork

Earlier this month I arrived in Singapore to begin my fieldwork for the REPLACE project. Although REPLACE is a distinct project from Things Becoming Food, my Singapore data collection will inform both pieces of research.

For the next two months I am a visiting researcher at the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at Singapore University of Technology & Design, where I am kindly hosted by Professor Harvey Neo. My fieldwork explores the rich diversity of meat replacement products and practices in Singapore, ranging from traditional ‘mock meats’ to more hi-tech alternative proteins, such as cultured meat and microbial protein.
