Planning research on meat replacement

This week is the project kick-off for REPLACE: Meat replacement and systems of edibility in Asia and beyond, which I am participating in alongside my Things Becoming Food project. The REPLACE project explores meat replacement in Eastern Asia, a key but understudied region in research on meat replacement, alternative protein products and the ‘protein transition’. Prof Arve Hansen will conduct research in Vietnam, I will do six months of fieldwork in Singapore, looking at both long-established meat replacement practices and more recent ‘alternative protein products’.
